Space Technology in Iran

This image made from video broadcast by Iran's state television Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, claims Iran has successfully launched a second rocket into space, following up on the first such launch in February.

Al Alam says "Kavoshgar 2" (Explorer 2), seen here, returned to earth 40 minutes later on a parachute after performing its functions in the lower reaches of space. Tehran unveiled the first Iranian-made satellite, called Omid (Hope) and inaugurated its first space center earlier in February when it launched a research rocket.
